Silvia Ferrero is a qualified and reputable translator and interpreter working from English into Spanish. She holds an MA in Translating from the University of Salford and a BA in English Studies from the University of Zaragoza (Spain), and has recently completed a short course on Audiovisual Translation at the University of Salford. Since 2002, she has provided her services to select agencies and clients in fields such as software and website localisation, environment, business and marketing, EU documents, fashion, public service and travel and tourism.

Her main specialisation lies in the field of videogames localisation; throughout her career, she has collaborated as a translator, editor and QA specialist in countless titles for several platforms (PS2, PSP, PS3, Wii, Xbox, PC) and even worked 5 years in-house for one of the industry leaders, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. In addition, she is one of the founding members of MediaLoc, a group of translators specifically created to offer tailor-made services to the videogames industry.

Silvia is very active in the language community and has recently been appointed Chair of the North-West Translators’ Network, after having held the position of Events Organiser for three years. She is also interested in raising the profile of videogames localisation, and was invited as a speaker to the First CTIS Postgraduate Conference at the University of Manchester, where she talked about “Common pitfalls in the videogames localisation industry”.
